Profile

St Vincent’s Hospice is a charitable organisation at the heart of the community, offering specialist care and services to all those affected by life limiting illness.

The Brief

St Vincents had a website that was not meeting all of its needs for staff, patients/patients families, job seekers and the local general public.

I was approached through a referral and was immensely proud to be chosen to work on the re-design and development of the new website for the hospice, which is only minutes from my home.

It was mutually agreed that the redesign of the website should be more welcoming, user friendly and have key points of the organisation in sight within Quicklinks.

The Solution

As part of the redesign of the website, a third party redesigned the branding for the hospice. The hospice logo was always recognised for having a rainbow of colours. though this was stripped back, with the main colours being navy blue with a supporting lilac. In terms of the website, this made things much better for content, as we focussed on just the two colours throughout, with the Lila

The use of the website would be for first and foremost, online visual presence, a place for families to view information about the hospice, people looking for job vacancies and individuals and businesses who may be looking at ways to fundraise for the hospice.

As the website content would be maintained internally by multiple staff, it had to be user friendly enough in the back-end for use on adding and updating content.

The navigation was signposted with  different areas of the hospice. ‘Service information’ ,which is a breakdown of what SVH do, Volunteer, for opportunities in volunteering, fundraising, a shop section which gives access to not just online shop resources, though information on your nearest charity shop. And finally ‘Donate’, which is the most important part for online use, so that people can generously donate online.

Another key part of the website, is the Vacancies and News sections. These showcase the latest job opportunities, with a now simpler online application process and all of the latest news from the hospice, whether its news on fundraising or the latest event.

Kev was recommended to us at St Vincent's Hospice to completely re-design our website from the ground up. Straight away we know that he was the correct person for the job – he just “got it”. He is personable, professional and hugely helpful, even checking in on the website from his holidays. We now have a website that looks great, is easy to navigate and is manageable for to us to maintain after some training – thanks Kev!
